"Tornado" Beats The Duke Up The Shap......
Perppercorn A1 "Tornado" has claimed the record set by "The Duke Of Gloucester" over the Shap back in 1995 by some 19 seconds with a 13 coach train...The loco seams to just keep proving itself  although a recent loco inspection found several broken firebox stays resulting in it being withdrawn from sevice...Rest assured that work has started in order to get Tornado back out on the mainline as soon as possible......
Great Western 38xx Up For Sale.
The South Devon Railway have put there 2-8-0 38xx No 3803 up for sale with a guide price of £350,000 and six  years left on its boiler cert..If you fancy such a wonderfull looking engine and have some spare change to get rid of contact- Dickwood@southdevonrailway.org
Scotlands Norrow Gauge Railway dry's Up...
Steam services on one of  Britains most northerly narrow gauge railways on the Isle of Mull have for the time being ground to a halt down to the recent hot wheather. Problems started around the end of may when water supplies started to run out leaving resident 2-6-4T  "Lady Of The Lakes" stranded in the engine shed...For the time being you can still enjoy the wonderfull scenery the line has to offer with diesels covering the dutys...Lets hope they get a good down poor soon...
 
 
Deltic Making Progress
 
For you Deltic lovers out there you may well be pleased to know that the National Railway Museum 55 "The Kings Own Yorkshire Light Infantry" is continuing to make good progress with work being concentrated on its main generators the work goes on...
 
 
 

A4 "Mallard" On Main Line Metals Again....................

LNER  A4 "Mallard" 4468 is once again on the move,,No not in steam but piloted by "Tornado" in a move to Shildon where it will remain for the next couple of years..The last time the famous A4 steamed was 1986 to 1988 for the 50th anniversary of of its record breaking run achieving 126 mph...lets hope that one day she may get an overhaul and again pound the UK main line...

 Ex Barry Scrap yard Black5 coming on well At The Mid Hants Railway.............................

LMS Black 5, 45379 is coming along leaps and bounds at the Mid Hants Railway in Hampshire..The loco has not steamed since July 1965 shortly before it ended up at Barry Scrap yard in wales..Since being perchased by the Mid Hants it has undergone a very extensive restoration and is well and truly looking like an engine again..It is hoped the loco will once again come to life around the end of July...

Boiler Maker's Israel Newtons & Sons Closing Down..!!!!!

 

The Bradford based boiler makers with 207 years worth of  family history have deciced to call it a day and will close by March 2011..The good news is that although the current workshops will be gone it is hoped to sell the business on to younger hands in order keep  the valuable skills that the firm cater for going...As Boiler smiths are in much demand all over the UK it would be a grate shame to loose this firm completely,,We wish them all the best for the future...  

2010 New Build Loco Now In Steam...................
 
15" New build loco "Bunty" is now in action at the Heatherslaw Light Railway..
The 2-6-0 was completed by Allan Keef LTD after a five year construction started by the founder Nevile Smith who sadley past away.. The engine has now been aproved to enter traffic at the line and is now set to tackle the railways 1 in 30 gradients...
 
 
Have We Seen The Last of The "Hogwarts Express."????
The now  famous "Olton Hall" was back at Kings Cross
