Theft Watch...!!!!!!!!
Its a shame that in this day and age I feel it necessary to have such a page but "THIEVES" keep on hitting Preserved railways and steam centres in general without so much of a care to what is being stolen or the significance of the parts they take....The "Severn Valley Railway" was the most recent to get hit loosing much of the copper sheet which should have been used for firebox repairs etc.....The biggest problem is that they are getting more daring and will seem to go to any lengths in order to get there hands what ever they please.....
The only way to help prevent against these robberies is to be not only be vigilant
but unfortunately more cautious as to who gets taken around engine sheds for viewings.....
If you get wind of a deal that just seems to good to be true or you suspect fowl play at your local Scrappy or maybe even recognise a loco component etc being sold somewhere unusual,,,,Let the Crime Stoppers Team know as soon as you can as this type of crime is happening far to much and Scrapyards should also be afraid as they are making profit
from stolen goods and surely they must just wonder sometimes where the gear they are paying for has come from..
If you have had steam related items stolen from your workshops not only inform
There will not be any charge for listing stolen items on this page and we hope that
just maybe you get the stuff back.. Tel- CRIME STOPPERS on 0800-555-111 if you come across any of the items listed below or any other railway and steam related items you may feel just isn't right.
Stolen Items 2011 Unfortunately The List Is Growing
Stolen= From "Sir Nigel Gresley" The two front headlamps/oil lamps which have been with the loco since 1967. These lamps were in very nice condition as you can imagine and were taken from the locos tender locker while parked at Grosmont shed. Both lamps have
brass plates showing 60007-1 and 6000-3. Please call the Police or you can call the Grosmont office on 01947-894744 if you see or get
offered these items for sale.
Stolen= The "Northampton & Lamport Railway" Has had its extension plans scuppered by Scrap Metal Thieves after they were hit hard loosing much of the track equipment earmarked for them to extend the line. No railway deserves this and these boys have been after an extension for sometime now. Signal pulleys, point locks and box levers were all taken..Now these items would stand out anywhere so
keep your eyes peeled for dodgy goings on at your local scrappy or even a boot sale you just never know.
STOLEN= From Bridgnorth "Severn Valley Railway"-5/8 and 1" gauge copper sheets of around 10 to 6ft
in size and weighing approx 6 tons.....
STOLEN= From the "Ecclesbourne Valley Railway",Various non-ferrous parts from Andrew Barclay loco "Henry Ellison" in the form of a Brake Valve,Vacuum Ejector,Gauge Glass Frames and Blow down Valve.
STOLEN= From "The Great Central Railway" over the last few years of repeated theft attacks, many parts from there EMU which resulted in its demise and much copper pipe work, cable and signaling equipment.
